China Mobile Counts Paralympics Users, Moon Festival SMS

China Mobile had more than 1.6 million users watching mobile TV broadcasts of the Paralympic Games, while over 20 million and around 2.23 million users received information on the games through mobile paper subscriptions and wireless portal Monternet, respectively. Around 3 million users made 8 million Paralympics information requests, including 2,000 multilingual inquiries, on China Mobile hotline "12580" during the games, while the operator's "10086" hotline recorded nearly 20,000 multilingual service requests. China Mobile recorded 184,000 users, including 6,800 international roamers, in central Paralympics venues during the closing ceremony of the games on September 17.

China Mobile subsidiary Guangdong Mobile recorded 570 million Mid-Autumn Festival SMS messages and 18.58 million MMS messages by 9 pm on September 14 (Moon festival). Holiday greetings were up 52.38% over normal periods.
