China Mobile Exceeds 50,000 TD-SCDMA Users

China Mobile had over 50,000 TD-SCDMA users as of July 1, including over 8,000 trial users. Fifteen thousand of those users are Olympic volunteers with terminals donated by China Mobile and Samsung, while over 20,000 are users that the mobile operator has provided with free phones and mobile fee subsidies.

China Mobile intends to give away a total of RMB 100 million in service subsidies to TD-SCDMA subscribers signing up on and after June 1. In other promotions and services, China Mobile has agreed to refund August TD-SCDMA fees in September, and begin renting TD-SCDMA terminals for RMB 10 per day plus a deposit equal to the price of the handset on October 1.
